Timothy B. Brown
Chief Executive Officer
Tim brings over 25 years of experience in the global consumer goods and pediatric nutrition industries, most notably with companies including Mead Johnson Nutrition and Procter & Gamble. Following his time as a US Naval officer, Tim was able to launch a range of new, innovative products in the developed and developing world, many of which remain leaders in their respective categories today.
David Kyle, PhD
Chairman of the Board, Chief Scientific Officer
David is a 30-year veteran of biotech, having co-founded a range of successful biotech companies in the fields of nutrition and health, including Martek Biosciences, which was acquired in 2011 for $1.1 Billion. David combines a strong scientific background with significant commercial acumen, has published over 70 scientific articles, edited two books, and is the named inventor on over 80 patents.
Chief Financial Officer
Susan brings over 25+ years of hands-on experience building and leading high-performing financial operations and analytics teams during periods of rapid corporate growth. In her previous roles at companies such as Rodan + Fields and Synergenics, Susan was key in identifying strategic opportunities, raising capital and forecasting and modeling growth based on business intelligence.
Christie brings over 20 years of demonstrated success in the consumer packaged goods industry, with companies such as P&G, Chicken of the Sea and Del Monte Foods. Using her extensive experience in building brands, while substantially growing revenue and profit, Christie has successfully managed top brands such as Always and Del Monte, and has received two Effie Awards for business-building advertising campaigns.
Jolene Jacobs, MBA
Senior Director, Medical Sales & Operations
As an award winning sales and marketing professional, Jolene brings to Evolve over 20 years of experience from leading nutrition companies, including Mead Johnson Nutrition and Leprino Foods Company. Jolene’s leadership skills and ability to develop and motivate high performing teams translates into business growth. Jolene received her undergraduate degree from the University of Manitoba, and her MBA from Royal Roads University.
Duane Maye, DVM
Director, Animal Health
Duane brings over 25 years of experience with leading companies in the animal health industry, including Merck AgVet, Merial Limited and Pegasus Laboratories, Inc. As a veterinarian, Duane has served in leadership roles in management, sales and marketing. Prior to joining Evolve, Duane was a key part in the launch of new pharmaceuticals and vaccines for horses, cattle, swine and pets, many of which remain category leaders today.
Samara Freeman, PhD
Director, IP & Regulatory Affairs
As an Evolve co-founder, Samara brings 15 years of experience in gastrointestinal physiology research. In her previous role as Assistant Director of Business Development at the UC Davis Foods for Health Institute, Samara helped launch the Milk Bioactives Program, lead research collaborations both in the US and internationally, and continues to serve as an invited speaker at numerous conferences world-wide.
Steven Frese, PhD
Associate Director, R&D Adjunct Assistant Professor, University of Nebraska Lincoln
Steven is a microbial ecologist with a decade of experience examining host-microbe interactions in the gut microbiome and coevolution between microbes and their human and animal hosts. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, his alma mater. Previously, he was an NIH-funded researcher at the University of California, Davis studying milk/microbe interactions in the gut of neonates.
Tracy Shafizadeh, PhD
Director, Scientific Communications
Tracy is a nutritional scientist with over 10 years of industry experience in precision medicine and diagnostic development, specifically focused on the role of nutrition and metabolism in cardio-metabolic diseases. Prior to joining Evolve, she held both product management and scientific communications roles at Metabolon, Tethys Bioscience and Lipomics Technologies. Tracy received her PhD in nutritional biology from UC Davis.
Director, Clinical Development & Operations
Robin began her career as a bench scientist, while her interest in patient outcomes guided her to Clinical Operations. She has applied her passion and expertise to start-up through global companies such as Novartis. Robin was part of the clinical team that developed the world’s first approved stem cell drug, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of clinical trials coordination and an expertise in unique regulatory pathways.
Michael Russell, PhD
Director, Process Development & Operations
Michael has 15 years of leadership experience in the probiotics, pediatric nutrition and dairy ingredients industries, with leading companies such as Land O’Lakes, Mead Johnson Nutrition and DuPont. He has managed multi-million dollar collaborations in new ingredient development and fundamental scientific studies and has commercialized new prebiotic and probiotic technologies in the pediatric nutrition space.
Rodney Hicks, PhD
Director, Supply Chain
Rodney has over 20 years of Global Supply Chain experience with 10 years specifically in Biotechnology, Healthcare, and cold supply chains. His experience spans from start-ups to leading organizations such as Kaiser, Oregon Health & Science University, Nike, and Affymetrix. Rodney's PhD embraces Lean and Six Sigma to optimize service excellence in the clinical/healthcare industry.
Director, Digital Technology & eCommerce
Jason brings nearly 20 years of digital marketing and e-commerce experience to Evolve, with expertise in digital retail and merchandising, analytics, customer marketing, channel development, and demand building. Before joining Evolve, Jason directed the digital strategy for Clavis Insight, Meyer Cookware Corporation, and Jelly Belly Candy Company.
Bethany Henrick, PhD
Director, Immunology & Diagnostics Adjunct Assistant Professor, University of Nebraska Lincoln
Bethany is an immunologist with extensive experience investigating maternal and infant immunity as well as a decade of experience designing, optimizing and bringing to market rapid point-of-care diagnostics focused on improving the lives of individuals globally. In addition to her position at Evolve Bio, Bethany also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Food Science and Technology Department at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Prior to joining Evolve, she managed international, multi-discipline scientific projects at UC Davis as Associate Director of the Foods for Health Institute. Bethany received her PhD in Medical Sciences, specializing in Infection and Immunity, from McMaster University.
